Obituary for Boyd Kendall Hakes

Hakes Boyd K. Hakes, 67, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 4, 2014. He was born in Aitkin, Minnesota on August 19, 1946, and was the son of the late Boyd M. and Dorothy Hakes. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired as a systems analyst working for the state of Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife Maryann. Survived by his son, Tom; daughters, Erika, Laurie, Rachel, and Lisa; grandchildren, Julia, Adyn, Grace, and Preston Snyder, Jude and Lennon Gruber; brother, Ladd; sisters, Martha and Jennie; mother-in-law, Rose Piller; and many other loved ones. The viewing and funeral service will be held at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State Street, Westerville, Ohio. Family will welcome friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 8. A funeral service will be Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m. with a burial following at Burnside Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Boyd K.
