Paul Rinnert

- 03/20/2021

Paul Rinnert went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2021. He was born September 14, 1935, in Marion Ohio to John and Mary Rinnert.

He graduated from The Ohio State University majoring in Engineering and Education. He served in the United States Airforce as a draftsman, traveling to the United Kingdom and working on elevator plans for aircraft carriers. He attended Kent State University and received his Master's degree in Education in 1974. He taught vocational education in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo Ohio, and in Maine and Georgia before he retired.

After retiring he enjoyed giving back to the community through extensive volunteering. He was quite proud of his experience volunteering for the 1988 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He also volunteered at the International Seafarers Center in Brunswick, Georgia, and for the American Red Cross of Northeastern Florida in Jacksonville. He loved working with the American Red Cross Disaster Services. He helped many people across the southern United States to deal with the aftermath of floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes.

Paul loved to hear stories about his children’s lives and his granddaughters adventures. He was most taken with stories about learning and travel. He fondly remembered his time in the service and visiting new places. He loved sports, but was particularly fond of soccer, OSU football and basketball. He was also a Boy Scout leader, volunteering with his sons’ Troop and also troops in Maine.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Rinnert, and his brother Robert Rinnert. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy (Robert) Eckart and Emily (Dr. William) Montgomery, his children Lyn (Brad) Kiger of Westerville Ohio, and Bryan (Gretchen) Rinnert of Kent, Ohio. He loved his four granddaughters, Allison and Ashley Kiger, Fiona, and Norah Rinnert.
