Judy K. Hetterscheidt Obituary - Hill Funeral Home
Judy Hetterscheidt was one of my best friends and one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever known. We met when she came to work at Main Dunstable Elementary School in Nashua, New Hampshire; we were both 38 years old. We worked together on a daily basis as members of the same 4-person teaching team. From the get-go, it was evident to me that Judy was intensely curious and extremely hard-working, creative, and dependable. She would arrive at school at 7am and wouldn’t leave until 7pm everyday. She was passionate about teaching and showed great compassion for her students.

Though we only taught together for one year, Judy, Jan Kelliher (another teacher friend), and I spent a lot of time talking (and walking and planning and laughing) together and eventually grew to be as close as sisters. When the decision was made to move to Missouri, Judy decided to remain with me in Nashua while the new house was being built. So, for eight months, we actually lived together. During this time, we traveled together every weekend, regularly visiting historical sites all over Massachusetts. Judy’s excitement and enthusiasm for learning was contagious.

After Judy moved to St. Louis, we continued to talk by phone everyday. We kept up that practice for 20-25 years (sometimes talking 2-3 times per day) until Judy became sick and it became more challenging for her to speak by phone. We also travelled together every summer. The last trip that we took was to Washington, D.C. where we enjoyed the Cherry Blossom Festival together. Judy helped me renovate my home in Nashua and stayed with me on several occasions at my home in Florida.

I clicked with Judy from the moment we met and always felt like I experienced unconditional love from her. We laughed and cried together and had many memorable adventures out in the world. Judy was a gentle soul who brought me and so many others great joy.

I am comforted by the image of Judy in heaven—at peace, surrounded by beauty, and knowing that she is deeply loved and fondly remembered by all those she touched during her time on earth. I will always hold her in my heart and will cherish my memories of our time together forever.
