Obituary for Richard Kovalchik

Richard J. Kovalchik, age 83, passed away at St. Ann’s Hospital on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

He was born in Pleasant City, Guernsey County, Ohio to John and Susan Kovalchik. He is preceded in death by parents, sister and brother-in-law Evie and Paul Mehleko and brother-in-law Will Kackley.

Survived by his wife Janis; son Jeff and wife Christin; sister Ester Kackley; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He played basketball at Ohio University and later became a member of the COHBA. He was a basketball official for 30 years. He was the former owner of Razor’s Edge Hairstyling in Upper Arlington, which he ran for over 40 years. Richard loved golf. He was a former member of Highlands and Eagle Eye Golf Clubs. Richard loved spending time with friends and family and will be missed by many.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Hackett.

In leu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to St Francis De Sales High School.

Family will receive friends 4 to 6 PM Monday, February, 17, 2020 at HILL FUNERAL HOME, Westerville.
