Obituary for Robert Dunn

Robert Dunn 1938-2019

Robert Dunn

06/28/1938 - 11/12/2019

Robert Dunn, also known as Bitchin’ Bob, decided that he’d had enough of this place on Tuesday November 12, 2019. He departed peacefully and, as usual did things his way. He was born on June 28, 1938 in Columbus, OH. He lived a lot in his 81 years!

At 17 he enlisted in the Army, and took off for basic training in Ft. Ord Monterey, Ca. He served three years in the Army and was a proud veteran. The Army took him to Germany, where he enjoyed his time drinking, smoking, and protecting our country!

Upon his return to Columbus, he worked for Timken and eventually made his way to United McGill where he worked his way up to field superintendent. He worked for United McGill for 35 years. He enjoyed hard work and was proud of his time there. His career provided awesome opportunities for him and his family to see and spend time in nearly every state. They all have such fond memories of all the different places they traveled over the years.

Even while traveling for work, Bob supported his family, often spending his time at home traveling for band activities in the form of running a souvenir booth or watching his kids and grandkids in marching band, drum corps, or indoor drumline events.

After retiring from United McGill, he worked for a number of years as a substitute custodian for Westerville City Schools. He enjoyed this job and learned very quickly that he only wanted to work at the elementary schools because he spent his time “opening milk for little kids”.

He was an avid Trump supporter and we’re surprised that he gave up the fight before the next election. He didn’t care if you disagreed and he would certainly argue with you but, in the end, he’d still like you.

He will always be remembered for his Wrangler wardrobe, brutally honest observations and comments, unbelievable parking and driving skills, sincere love for each and every Western movie ever made, and quiet sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Geraldine Dunn and brother George.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Charlotte. His daughter Amy (David), and son Craig (Robin). Five grandchildren: Christopher and Brody French, and McKenzie, Collin, and Caiden Dunn. Two sisters:  Karen of Westerville and Barb of West Palm Beach, Fl.

Visitation 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-7:00 on Sunday November 17, 2019. Funeral Service 10:30AM Monday November 18, 2019. Services will be held at Hill Funeral Home Westerville, OH. Interment at Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville, OH.
