Obituary for German Acree

German Acree 1951-2019

German Acree

01/13/1951 - 09/03/2019

German (Gerry) Acree, age 68, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on September 3.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 13, 1951 to Robert L Acree, II and the late Dolores Thompson Acree. German was a 1969 graduate of Max Hayes High School and did additional studies at several universities. He spent ten years in the Air Force from 1970-1980 obtaining the rank of staff sergeant while working as an electronics technician, including two years in Southeast Asia. The remainder of his career, German worked primarily as a civilian for the U.S. government at several facilities, including Newark (Ohio) AFB and Robins AFB in Georgia, where he served as an equipment specialist and was instrumental in starting the local Tuskegee Airmen Chapter. German was a unique individual whose curiosity lead him to learning about and experiencing many adventures in his life. His love for airplanes, cars, and mechanical things was extensive. But most of all, German loved the Lord, his family, and serving others.

German will be greatly missed by his wife, Carole Williams, father Robert L. Acree II (Charlyne,) and six siblings, including Robert L Acree, III, Deborrah Dobrzeniecki (Leonard,) Cheryl Acree, Dawn Acree-Billups, Elizabeth Acree-Smith (Richard,) and Nancy Acree. He is also survived by his daughter, Theresa Acree, six grandchildren, including Katianna Evans, Keon, Kyan, Daveon, Taveon, and Trinity Williams, and one great grandchild, Aurora Wheeler. Two aunts, Shirley Thompson and Carolyn Williams, brother-in-law Ernest Williams (Amy,) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Special friends Mark and Donna VanWinkle and Roger and Marilyn Oliver also mourn his passing.

A memorial service will be held on at 11:30 a.m.Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 E. Walnut St., Westerville. The family will receive guests at the church one hour prior to the ceremony. Burial to follow immediately after the service at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran church, the American Diabetes Association, or the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Fund, P.O Box 6165, Warner Robins, GA 31095.
