We just saw Edwina's obituary in the paper and are so sorry for you loss! Your mother was such an amazing woman and with all of your kindness and care making sure your mom was well taken care of allowed her a beautiful extra-long life. She will be missed by all of The Cachet gals. We are all sending prayers to you and your family.

Strong, loving, & generous. A great lady has gone to a better place. Edwina R. Cheek Ely, age 101, of Westerville, Ohio, peacefully departed to Heaven, surrounded by her loving family, on July 6, 2019, after a brief illness, at Dublin Methodist Hospital.

She was born in Delaware County on the farm of her parents Raymon. & Ada(Freeman) Rammelsberg, in "the blizzard of 1918" on January 4. Edwina attended a one room school, tutoring other students, & graduated from Orange Township HS as Valedictorian. She gave up her music scholarship to Otterbein & worked a year at Williams Grill where she met Don Cheek, her future husband, before attending OSU in Home Economics, graduating & teaching in Bucyrus. They married in 1942. She followed Don to Army bases in San Antonio & Biloxie, working as a clerk. They moved to Westerville in 1945& joined Church of the Master U M where she taught Sunday School, choir member, women's Circle groups, & preparing meals. She was a member of AAUW, Children's Hospital Twig charity, Girl Scout Leader, PTA, part time secretary. Don won many sales awards at Equitable Life & they visited Nassau, Florida, & other resorts. Edwina learned bridge from her best friend & they played over 20 years as well as couples club. Don taught her golf & she played often. She loved to cook & was famous for her pies. She helped care for her father & mother many years & Don for over 10 years. She loved dancing& Glen Miller, patron of Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Broadway plays, Otterbein trip to London for theater.After Don died in 1982, she & her cousin took a river cruise to Switzerland & Germany, & an Alaska cruise w/ friends. Met & married Dwight Ely in 1992. They went to England & Ireland & took a Panama Canal cruise. He died in 2003.

Survived by daughters Elaine C. Perry & Sheri ( Ken) Grove; grandchildren Bill Perry( Rebekah Kim), Chris Perry(Jean Sung), Lou (Lisa) Grove, & Lauren( Adam) Steinmetz; great grandchildren Skylar & Carter Perry, Kailani, Kona, & Naia Perry, Emmett & Desmond Grove, & Oskar & A. J. Steinmetz; Rammelsberg & Freeman cousins; & Cheek relatives. 

Preceded in death by son James Cheek, brother Allen( Merle) Rammelsberg. Edwina was loved by all who knew her & will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Harry & Ann Peat, the outstanding Staff at Dublin Methodist Hospital, & Hill Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church Of the Master UM, 24 N Grove St., Westerville, Ohio.
