Friends may call on the family on June 7, 2019, from 5-7 at the Hill Funeral Home, 220 S. State St. Westerville, Ohio, 43081. Services will be held there on Saturday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at North Lawn Memory Gardens in Westerville.

Nell Marie Davis, age 83, of Gahanna, died early Wednesday morning, June 5th 2019 after a long battle against cancer.

She was born October 22, 1935 in Kermit West Virginia as the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Rachel Gillman.

She was a graduate of Kermit High School and attended Marshall University in the study of Education.

She worked as a teacher and with The Limited for many years. The role that she most loved was that of a mother, mom mom, sister, and wife. She was "THE SHEPHERD" of our families and friends.

In 1957, she married Charles Davis Jr in Liberty, Indiana. They were married over 60 years at the passing of her husband, Chuck, in the summer of 2017. She raised her two children in their home of over 45 years in Gahanna. Nell enjoyed raising her children and grandchildren, having her large family visit, crocheting, puzzling, cooking, shopping and spending time with her canine companions. Last summer she was fortunate to find relaxation and joy on a cruise to the Caribbean.

She is so missed by her daughter, Gina Davis Coman and her husband Mike; son Mark Davis and his wife Collette of Sunbury; sister Cally Davis; brothers Roger Gillman and Stanley Gillman; her grandchildren Zachary and Matthew Coman and Cole, Lauren, and Owen Davis; her niece/ daughter Desi Gillman and her son Kyan and her nephew Tim; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth and Rachel; her husband, Charles; her grand daughter, Mackenzie Alyssa; her sisters, Reba Marcum, Gaye Marcum, and Jean Marcum; her brothers, Earl Gillman, Ermal Gillman, Leonard Gillman; her half sisters Lorraine Gillman Dodge, Bessie Gillman Messer, Easter Gillman Brewer, Merley Gillman Davis; half brothers Olen Gillman, Walter Gillman, Burley Gillman, James M "Jay" Gillman, Richard C "RC" Gillman; and extended family.
