On Monday March 11th, 2019, John Dean Kiner passed away at the age of 90 with his children and grandchildren at his side. John was born on December 24, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to Alice and Rodney Kiner.
Growing up in Westerville, Ohio John fell in love with working on automobiles which became his profession, specializing in foreign and antique auto repair. After serving in the Korean War during 1951-1952 as a mechanic in the 512th Ord HAM Heavy Automotive Maintenance Co, John returned to Westerville to continue his automotive business Kiner’s Garage. On June 18th, 1959 he married Jeanette Pauline Dawson and they raised two daughters, Kim and Kelli and one son, John Michael. John had many interests most notably his love of unique cars. Just to name a few of those he owned and cherished were his Bugatti, Bentley, Flanders and was the original owner of a ’53 Arnolt MG. He was also active in the 2nd OVI and was a Past Master and member of Blendon Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
John was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, brother Ralph and sister Eileen. He is survived by his three children Kim (Ralph Jelic), John (Tonya) and Kelli (Chris Estep), grandsons Jacob, Christian and Nathaniel, step-grandsons Chazz, Tyler and Justice, sisters Pearl Mae Eierman and Sharon Hayhurst, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 4-7pm Friday, March 15, 2019 at Hills Funeral Home in Westerville where a funeral service will be held at 10:30am Saturday.
