Obituary for Jeane Louise Locke

Jeane Louise Hirsch Locke, age 93, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home, The Village of Westerville, surrounded by family on December 18, 2018. She was born on November 22, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Fredrick and Margaret Katheryn (Siney) Hirsch. She attended Fairview High School. Jean later married Roy E. Locke August 27, 1948. They had five children: Sandra, Cynthia, Linda, David and Roy, Jr.

Jeane worked for The Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a Telephone Operator and later as a Supervisor. After raising her family, she went to work at Good Samaritan Hospital in The Family Birthing Center. She loved doing the maternity admitting. She later retired from this job.

Jeane loved singing, playing the piano and harmonica, dancing, writing poetry and spending time with her friends and family.

Preceded in death by her husband Roy and sons David and Roy Jr. She is survived by daughters Sandra (Douglas) Allton, Cynthia (Joseph) Burke, Linda (John) Longhenry, Sr., daughter-in-law Paula Locke, grandchildren Todd Allton, Seth (Emma) Allton, Scott Burke, Stacy (Chad) Clark, John Longhenry, Jr., Emily (Nathan) Cox, Tyler Locke, Brian (Becca) Chicoine and twelve great grandchildren.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Heartland Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Sunday December 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home, 220 S. State St., Westerville, Ohio. A celebration of Jeane’s life will begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date. Rev. Anna Guillozet officiating.
