Visiting hours are Sunday from 2:00-4:00 at Hill Funeral Home, 220 S. State St. Westerville, OH 43081. The memorial service will be Monday at 10:30 with a luncheon to follow, at First Presbyterian Church, 41 W College Ave, Westerville, OH 43081. A graveside service with military honors will be at 2:00 at Oakdale Cemetery, 1290 W 5th St, Marysville, OH 43040. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Big Brother’s Association, or Girl Scouts of America.

Gerald (Jerry) Max Chappell, born September 16, 1924 in Marysville Ohio, went peacefully to heaven on July 24, 2018 at home in Westerville surrounded by his wife and daughters. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Driskell; children, Sherry Chappell (Vince Mancuso), Laura (Andy) Miyazaki, Janice (Randy) Clough; step-children, Eric (Wendy) Driskell, Annetta Driskell; and grandchildren, Leandra Clough, Chelsea Clough, Justin Clough, Jailyn Miyazaki, Matthew Driskell. Jerry was the son of Grace and Robert Chappell of Marion, Ohio. He graduated from Marion Harding High School and The Ohio State University (BS, MS). Jerry served in the U.S. Navy in WWII in the Pacific as a Quartermaster. He was a Columbus elementary school principal for 30 plus years enriching the lives of children. Jerry volunteered with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and served as a lay-leader at University Methodist Church. He was an avid OSU football fan, managing program sales for over 40 years. Jerry brought his family to all of the major National parks to share the beauty of our nation and instill appreciation for the wonders of God’s creation. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him
