Obituary for Diane Basinski

Diane Marie (Bowen) Basinski, age 85, born August 15, 1932, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Diane is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leonard, and by her Aunt Geri Scully of Charleston SC. Preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Don Bowen of Columbus, and many Aunts and Uncles. Diane was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, and received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University. Diane loved being in the classroom with young children and watching them grow and develop. After teaching in Grandview, Worthington and Oakland CA, Diane and her husband retired in Powell. She continued to touch the lives of young children as a docent at the Columbus Zoo for 17 years, with most of her time in the children’s petting zoo. Diane was an Associate of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Powell. Family will welcome friends on Tuesday, April 3 from 5 to 7 pm at HILL FUNEERAL HOME, 220 S. State Street in Westerville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at 10 AM in the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, Lewis Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Columbus Zoo or Alzheimer’s Association.
