Arrangements

A private service will be conducted in the coming days, and a memorial celebration will be held in the spring for extended family and friends.
Leslie...thank you for the name, thank you for plate tectonics and dress up in basements. For caring for 7 children with the Hong Kong flu. For awful cookies so we wouldn't snack and for babysitting AND Presidents club parking at OSU so I could finish my degree.

Thank you for being my mother's best friend.

Jackie's Daughter, Leslie

Obituary for Leslie Schrag

Leslie Schrag 1933-2018

Leslie Schrag

01/15/1933 - 01/04/2018

Leslie Israel Schrag, age 84, died January 4, 2018 in the company of her family. Leslie grew up in Warren, Pennsylvania, attended Syracuse University and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in psychology. In 1954 she married Edward "Ned" Schrag whom she'd known since the age of four. Shortly after they were wed, they moved to San Fransisco for Ned's naval service. While in California Leslie did social work until the birth of their first child, Amelia "Amy". After Ned's service obligation, the family moved to Boston where Ned attended Harvard Law School. Upon his graduation in 1960 the Schrags, now including second child Katherine "Kate", moved to Columbus, Ohio where they welcomed their son Edward III "Ted" in 1962. Leslie's and Ned's lives in Columbus were enhanced when they were joined here by their dear friends, Jackie and Dean Hutchings. Over the years the Schrags enjoyed many camping adventures with the Hutchings and their four children, Leslie and Ned's godchildren. Throughout her life, Leslie shared her love of learning with all of those with whom she came into contact. In particular Leslie imparted her enthusiasm for geology and plate tectonics with many gradeschool students over the years, and she devoted innumerable hours of volunteer service to the classrooms, libraries and scout troops of her kids. Leslie was an avid reader (so many books, so little time!), a gourmet cook and fabulous hostess. She was happiest welcoming family and friends into her home, cooking up a storm and celebrating in style. Leslie was preceded in death by their son, Ted (1983), her husband, Ned (2012), son-in-law, Eric (2017), and sister, Anne (2017). She is survived by her daughters Amy (Eric) Prack and Kate (Dan) Roberts, and grandchildren Mark Schrag (Jackie) Prack, Anne Marie (Mark) Schloemer, John Prack, Edward Lee Roberts, and Alexander Roberts. Also honoring her memory are her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Christine Israel, and their children, John, Stefan, Bruce and Pam, as well as her sister's children, Robert, Dana and Erik. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doctors without Borders or the Salvation Army. A private service will be conducted in the coming days, and a memorial celebration will be held in the spring for extended family and friends.
