Obituary for Barbara Zdanis

Barbara Zdanis 1936-2022

Barbara Zdanis

03/28/1936 - 09/24/2022

Barbara Rosenberger Zdanis was born on March 28, 1936 and passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022 at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard A. Zdanis. His death on May 5, 2019 separated them, and hers has now reunited them in love. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Louise Rosenberger and her beloved grandparents Audrey and Raymond Day. She is survived by her children, Michael Zdanis (Janice) of Glen Arm, Maryland and Carole Cavanagh of Westerville, Ohio. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her six grandchildren: Mateja Zdanis (Tyler), Quentin Zdanis, Kevin Cavanagh, Colleen Cavanagh (Rex Brigger), Kathleen Cavanagh, and Connor Cavanagh. In addition to her extended Columbus family of wonderful friends, and a very supportive church community, Bobbie was immensely grateful to have also been supported by wonderful nurses and aides that always tried to keep her comfortable, her personal MacGyver, Stuart Hallam, and her private caregiver who became a member of the family, Deanna Kiesel.

Bobbie was an irrepressible, generous and selfless member of her community who had a lasting impact on all who knew her. From making casseroles to sewing quilts, Bobbie jumped in to help wherever and whenever she was needed. She cultivated many genuine friendships and remained a well-loved and often visited lady until her passing. Despite a diagnosis of ALS 16 months prior to her passing, Bobbie maintained a positive outlook and had the ability to make those around her smile. Her bravery and strength was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She exemplified grace and dignity throughout the course of her disease.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be sent to The Team Gleason Foundation via their website or by sending checks to:
