Linda Lee Koenig

07/05/1947 - 07/08/2022

Linda Lee (Dumas) Koenig, 75, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8th, 2022, surrounded by her husband of 52 years and her children.

Linda was born on July 5th, 1947, in Champlain, NY to Francis Dumas, Jr. and Lorena Lees (Dumas). She grew up among her large family including two siblings and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Growing up, she was an avid girl scout where she earned the rank of Curved Bar as an Intermediate Scout then went on to earn the senior Five-Point Pin and four senior Aide Bars in the Senior Scout program. While serving as the president of her Senior troop she was honored to be selected to represent her region at the All-States Encampment at Camp Timbertarn, Emigrant Gap, CA.

Linda graduated from St. Mary's Academy High School in Champlain, NY in 1965. After high school she attended Adirondack Community College where she met her husband Phil. She spent the next couple summers with her husband’s family on Long Island, NY, while she interned at Kings Park State Mental Institution and Northport Veterans Administration Psychiatric Hospital. In 1967 they moved to the Columbus, OH area to attend The Ohio State University where she continued to pursue Clinical Psychology. Linda and Phil put roots down in the Columbus area then married in 1969 and started a family.

Linda began a career in health care as a medical assistant. As an active member of the American Association of Medical Assistants she served two years as president of her local Franklin County chapter then served as president of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants from 1990 to 1991. Later in her career she transitioned to managing medical practices which she continued until she retired.

Linda had a passion for photography and would often be spotted taking photos wherever she could. She collected several awards for many of her photographs. She was a world traveler who documented her excursions through the lens of her camera. She traveled to four continents, sixteen countries, and more than twenty-five US National Parks. She was always looking forward to the next adventure.

Linda was an active member of the Westerville Senior Center and an advisory board member for several years. She taught photography classes, enjoyed day trips to local sites and museums, and was one of Santa’s most enthusiastic elves at the annual Snowflake Castle event. In 2013, along with her husband, she was selected by the City of Westerville to represent all the community grandparents in accepting the City’s proclamation proclaiming Sunday, September 15, 2013, as “Grandparents Day”.

Linda lit up the room with her smile, her beauty, and her bubbly personality. She most loved spending time with her family and friends as well as with her grand pups Stella and Finn. She treasured her husband who took such good care of her. She adored her children and cherished her grandchildren. She worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, supported them; She loved them dearly. She will be missed deeply by everyone who knew her.

Linda was predeceased by her father, Francis Dumas Jr., and her mother, Lorena Lees.
