Louise E. (Merica) Browers passed away suddenly at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Saturday, 04/30/22 at 90 years old.
She was born in York, PA to Lloyd and Mary (Blauser) Merica. She met Ray Shue in York and married him (1951) in Boston, ending up in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They are survived by 2 daughters, Karen (CA) and then Kim (MI). Divorced in 1973, and given the opportunity, in 1975, to move to Columbus, OH with her employer, Reliance Electric. Being a shy person and only knowing the few people that also transferred, this was a leap of faith for her. She retired from there in 1996. She adapted to being in “the sunny south”, as she put it, and relished in telling us that it did not snow there and was much warmer. In 1991, she married Bill Browers and they enjoyed almost 20 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.
She became an OSU Buckeyes fan, rarely missing a basketball or football game on tv. She thoroughly enjoyed college basketball games, especially the March Madness Tournaments, even attending some of them with Bill. Louise loved to play basketball herself when she was in high school even though she was only 5 feet tall. She was a member of the Church of the Messiah of Westerville, Ohio, loved bowling when younger, playing cards and traveling with Bill (they saw many states together). She adored her neighbors in her condo community, although she withdrew as she got older, and the dementia set in.
Louise will be missed by her daughters, Karen Farmer of Ypsilanti, MI and Kim Shue of Belleville, MI. Also, Claudia Browers of Bellevue, WA, Sharon Willams and Elizabeth (Bill) Barger of Little Rock, AR and extended family members. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Bill, his son Billy and son-in-law Art Williams, her parents, brothers David and Kenneth, sister Betty and various nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Dayton Veterans Cemetery alongside her husband Bill. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The American Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society of the United States.
