Obituary for Chad Smith

Chad Smith 1983-2021

Chad Smith

10/15/1983 - 03/29/2021

Chadwick Wayne “Chad” Smith, age 37, passed away Monday, March 29th, after a long battle with cancer. His friends and family were by his side when he was called home to be with the lord. He was born October 15th, 1983, in Columbus, Ohio. A son to Janet Bahr and David Smith. He attended Westerville City Schools where he graduated from Westerville South in 2002. He worked as a security officer at The Ohio State University for nearly 20 years with some of his very closest friends.

Chad is survived by his parents Janet Bahr and David (Rhonda) Smith; his sister Amanda (Brad) Nicholson and his brother Erik Smith, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his loving wife, Jessica Smith; his daughter Lillian and his son Carter. He leaves behind loving in-laws Matthew and Nancy Baker, Leeann Baker, Kaitlin Baker, and Abigail Baker; and his very good friends Ryan Benroth and Doug McGrew.

Chad had a real love for riding and was a member of Can Am Rykers and Spyders of Ohio where he frequently took rides touring all of Ohio. He was recognized as “Security Officer of the Year” recently after his colleagues nominated him for the award. Chad was very passionate about sports, and never missed a single Ohio State football game. He took every opportunity he could to be at the games and cheer on the Buckeyes, even if it meant he was working.
