Obituary for Martin Thompson, Jr

Martin Thompson Jr., age 84, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Forest Hills Nursing Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born November 27, 1930, in Columbus to the late Mart and Jesse Thompson. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in Korea during hostilities in the Artillery, Fire Direction. Martin received his B.S. degree, College of Commerce, at The Ohio State University. He and business partner, Tom Cunningham, were principals in the Thompson-Cunningham Insurance Agency, Worthington, OH for many years. Martin was a long-time member of the Karl Road Baptist Church, Columbus, having served in many capacities. One of Martin's greatest joys was piloting his boat with family and friends on the Great Lakes. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor Cook Thompson; their two children, Eric (Debbie) Thompson, and Lydia (John) Gilmore. Also three grandchildren, McKenzie (James) Strubank, Maddie Thompson, and Cody Thompson. Friends and family may call at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville, OH at 10 a.m., Saturday January 17,2015.
