The family will receive friends for visitation from 1 pm to 2 pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at the Central College Presbyterian Church, where the Memorial service will be held at 2 pm with Pastors Malcom Davis and David Redding officiating. Masks will be required and the memorial service will be live streamed on the hill funeral home Youtube Channel. Interment to follow at Blendon Central Cemetery.

Russell L. Shaeffer, age 87, passed peacefully August 16, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio with his wife of 66 years, Anna Shaeffer (Thivener) and family at his side while in Hospice Kobacker House.

He lived a full and vibrant life. Resided in Westerville, Ohio for over 58 years. Born in Lancaster, Ohio. Besides his wife Anna he is survived by Sons: David (Brenda), Gary (Sherri), Kent (Samira); Daughter: Deanna (Doug); Grandchildren: Matthew Shaeffer, Leanna Renninger (Jay), Robert Coalter, Christopher Shaeffer, Tim Shaeffer (Ali); Great grandchildren: Mike, Nathan, Lane, Phoenix; Sisters: Dorothy Witham (Emerson), Judy Shaeffer, Linda Sloan. Predeceased by parents Russell J. Shaeffer and Ruth Shaeffer (Walton); Brothers: Donald (wife Millie), James (Eileen), Homer; Sisters: Mary Jane Clark (husband Ray), Ruth Dixon (Delbert), Ida May Hunter (Bud).

Russell “Russ” Shaeffer retired from Columbus Southern Power/AEP after 36+ years A Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War and participant of the 2016 Honor Flight. He was a Member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, Ohio Association of Realtors, Building Industry Association of Central Ohio, National Association of Home Builders, Ohio Home Builders Association and Aladdin Shrine and winner of multiple awards for his dedication in the building industry. A world traveler with his loving wife at his side and known supporter of OSU football as “Buckeye Bob” and could find a cookie anywhere he went. He will be missed by many and not forgotten.
