Obituary for Irene Campbell

Irene Campbell, 98, a long-time Westerville resident, passed away just before midnight on May 1, 2020, after enjoying some Sinatra on her headphones.

Preceded in death by her parents, William Mustor (d.1932) and Georgiana (Gene) Mustor (d. 1983), her sisters, Alice and (Marjorie) Grace, and Charles, III (Charlie), her husband of 48 years, she had been looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday next year with her three children, Carol, Charles IV (Chuck), and Nancy O’Leary; three granddaughters, Jennifer Campbell, Michelle Campbell, and Shannon O’Leary; son-in law Danny O’Leary; many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, and great-great granddaughters, Adalynn and Everleigh Hopper, and her many friends, and Eastern Star sisters and brothers, but the coronavirus cancelled that.

Irene was a native New Yorker and proud graduate of James Madison High School in the Bronx. She was an active USO volunteer during WWII; a stray letter to another soldier in hospital, connected her with Charlie, a native of Lancaster, Ohio. When they were first married, they lived in New York, with her mother, where their three children were born. After living in several other locations, they moved to Westerville. She had worked for the State of Ohio for many years, and was a proud 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a PM of Mizpah Chapter. She served as a Grand Representative of Nova Scotia and PEI, in 1983-84, and enjoyed visiting those provinces for many years, where she also made many friends. She also enjoyed the opportunity to travel to many other places, including twice to Alaska and many times to Europe. Closer to home, she loved to read and to work in her garden. She would have appreciated being remembered with lots of flowers!
