Obituary for Judy Mackey

Judy Mackey 1943-2020

Judy Mackey

10/25/1943 - 04/19/2020

The world is a little less bright today, as we lost one if it’s shining stars. Judy Mackey of Westerville, Ohio entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, April 19th, 2020.

Judy was born in Augusta, GA on October 25, 1943 to Hazel and Kermit Squire. A great beauty inside and out, Judy was selfless in giving of herself to her friends, family and community. She was a leader in business at Bloomberg Eye Center, a leader in education through Ohio PTA, a leader in ministry as a Stephen Minister, and a tireless volunteer through Licking Memorial Hospital Twig 8 Gift Shop as well as numerous other volunteer organizations. Truly the hardest worker I’ve ever known, Judy’s work ethic was second to none. It was not uncommon to find her scrubbing carpets at the office on her own time because she found a couple spots that weren’t quite up to her standard. She loved nothing more than being with her family. Holidays, birthdays and other special celebrations were her forte. Those who knew her would agree that nobody was a better cook or hostess than Judy. She could solve any problem; nothing was too great an obstacle for Judy to overcome. Always a fashion plate, she was the picture of beauty and class, whether she was spending time on the boat waterskiing, working in the office, on buying trips for the Twig 8 gift shop, or helping lead Parkinson’s Disease exercise classes. She was beautiful, generous, intelligent and funny. She could also be a bit of a prankster and was known to hide under the bed to offer a little scare after someone had watched a horror movie. She was always up for an adventure and loved to grab a girlfriend or two and dig up some good-natured trouble. She made everything special and we are left with a huge hole in our hearts. However we know her pain and suffering has come to an end and we find peace in knowing she is finally home with our Heavenly Father.

Judy is survived by her husband George Mackey of Westerville, OH, Daughter Kristen (Claire) Marvin of Westerville, OH, Son Scott Mackey (Rachel) of Ft Worth, TX, Granddaughter Madison Ryan of Westerville, Ohio, Grandson Connor Ryan of San Diego, CA, Grandson Ian Mackey of Ft Worth, TX, Grandson Xander Mackey of Ft Worth, TX, sister Sharon (Greg) Hodge of Traverse City, MI, and sister Glenda (Martin) Lee of Levant, ME. She is preceded in death by Mother Hazel (Sherwood) Squire of Traverse City, MI, father Kermit Squire of Midland, MI, and sister Wanda Squire of Anoka, MN.

Judy will be laid to rest in a private burial on Thursday, April 23, 2020. A beautiful memorial and celebration of life will follow for her abundant family and friends once we may all safely gather again.

Contributions may be made in Judy’s honor to Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd. Westerville, Ohio 43081.
