Obituary for Henry Kunze

Henry Steven Kunze, 58, of Westerville passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2020 after a short valiant battle with melanoma. He was born on June 22, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio to Elizabeth (Kresnye) Kunze and the late Henry Leland Kunze. Henry is also survived by his wife of 20 years, Allison (Enderle) Kunze, his son Henry and daughter Kaylee; brothers Steven Edward Kunze (Sherry) and Ben Lee Kunze (Melissa); and seven nieces and nephews. He leaves many friends and co-workers who expressed their love and appreciation for him.

Henry graduated from Morgan High School (1980) in McConnelsville, Ohio and studied finance and real estate at Ohio University. He was a member of the Church of the Messiah in Westerville. '

Henry was an entrepreneur from an early age, succeeding in anything he put his mind to. He was involved in many aspects of real estate – building subdivisions and working with a law firm to negotiate deals. Eventually he realized he was best as his own boss. Henry purchased and renovated buildings in the Hilltop in west Columbus. His focus was to work with churches, missions and agencies to provide housing for veterans and the homeless.

Henry's other passions were the tiny house movement and volunteering regularly with the United Tiny House Association. He was also an avid fan of the Ohio State University football team and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Henry volunteered regularly in his children's interests, travelling to many Boy Scouts events, soccer games and tournaments, as well as marching band performances and competitions. His sales and promotion skills sold many Krispy Kreme donuts for the Westerville South HS band program! He loved to travel by Amtrak and took his family and friends on many adventures across the USA. His sense of humor and efforts to surprise and gift others with his time and provide exciting experiences were legendary.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 funeral restrictions, there will not be a public visitation. A small service will be taped for later viewing by friends and family. Henry will be interred near his family at Green Mound Cemetery in Kilbourne, Ohio.
