Williams, E. (Edwin) Earl, 90, died Monday afternoon with his wife and children by his side. Earl was born on August 18, 1923 in Decatur, Alabama where he grew up on his mother’s southern cooking and Crimson Tide football. A graduate of the Gulf States School of Art, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 where he worked as a plane and engine mechanic. He finished his service in 1946 and soon after met a dark-haired beauty who was studying nursing in Birmingham. On June 2, 1947, he married Barbara Irene Iacavone. Not long after, she persuaded him to move back to her home in Northern Ohio. He went to work at Seiple Lithograph in Canton in July of 1948 as a commercial artist. When he retired in 2001, he was executive vice-president of the company. Earl was extremely active in the communities he lived, serving as president of the three homeowners associations – Avon Crest and Southpointe in Canton, and Canterbury Woods in Westerville, where he moved in 2006. He is survived by his wife Barbara; son Gene (Kathleen) Williams of Mason; daughter Leigh Ann (Ivan) Burdine of Westerville; grandsons Seth, Ryan and Brandon; great granddaughter, Molly; brothers Robert of Valdosta, GA and George of Midland, TX; and sister Miriam of Birmingham, AL. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 16 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 313 North State Street, Westerville. Rev. Father David Gwinner will be the celebrant. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Canton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, friends can contribute to W.A.R.M.175A, E.
