Condolence From: Jeni Harris, Oceanside, California
Condolence: Mrs. Valimaki has always held a special place in my heart. She was one of my favorite teachers and one of my inspirations for becoming a teacher. (I've been teaching for 33 years so far.) As my fifth grade teacher at Pinecrest Elementary, I remember her teaching us how to make macrame belts and wall hangings, letting me help grade papers when I finished my work, and arranging for a few of us to tutor students in a first-grade class. I also fondly remember some of the novels she introduced to me.
My condolences to her family and friends. May you find comfort in your memories of this special lady. May her memory be for a blessing.
Condolence From: Carla Smith - Randall, Reynoldsburg, Oh
Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Valimaki's passing. She was one of my all time favorite teachers, and I was in her last class at Pinecrest before they closed the school. I remember at Christmas time, I was not able to give her the present I had. I was so upset, my mother found out where she lived, and we drove out to her house and left it on her doorstep. It was a little glass owl, and my younger brother jumped on it in the back seat on the way to her house. If it was broken, she certainly never said so. Such a lovely lady.
