Tom & Bev, we were so sorry to read of Tom’s passing. It was wonderful to hear how strong his faith remained as he fought the ravages of ALS. It has to be comforting to know he’s home and the suffering has ended.

Obituary for Thomas Cholley II

Thomas Cholley II 1969-2018

Thomas Cholley II

03/22/1969 - 06/22/2018

Thomas Phillip Cholley II, 49, passed away on June 22, 2018 in Westerville, Ohio. He was born March 22, 1969 in Akron, Ohio.

Thomas II will be sadly missed by his parents, Thomas and Beverly Cholley; his Brother Jeffrey (Karen) Cholley - Nephew Mitchell, Niece Jordan; his Sister Susan (Chris) Hammond - Niece Amber, Nephew Cormac; and his stepchildren Chelsea Terrill and Mason (Angel) Terrill; He is further survived by many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and Friends.

Thomas II was preceded in death by his Grandparents; Walter and Lois Cholley; Burton and Margaret Riley; and his Uncle Jack Cholley, Uncle Byron Riley, Aunt Penny Riley, and Uncle Jim & Aunt Barbara Peacock.

Tommy graduated from Westerville North High School in 1987. He attended The Ohio State University for 3 years, and he was a graduate from The American School of Broadcasting. He wore many hats; he worked as a machine operator for a medical supply company. He enjoyed his time as a private investigator, as well as, a transportation operator for C.O.T.A. and Fed-Ex. He was a member of Christian Community Church Westerville during his youth and attended the Vineyard as an adult.

Tommy loved to travel. Being a long-haul truck driver was a great way for him to enjoy the beauty of our country. He especially loved meeting new people. His goal was to always make people smile and lift up their day. His favorite spot was on the beach soaking up the sun and gazing at the water and the palm trees. He had so much fun going to various festivals and concerts over the years with his friends. There were many genres of music that he connected to; one of his most favorite singers was Elvis! Growing up, and on into adulthood he was a big fan of the Ohio State University football, the Cleveland Browns football, the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians baseball. He attended many games with his dad, brother and sister. Of all the holidays, he loved Christmas the most. It was a thrill for him to go shopping and surprise everyone; he was a giver.

As so many of you know, Tommy loved to have fun and be spontaneous! He was hilarious! He’d do anything to make you laugh and feel good. He strived to show kindness in any way. He was a dependable friend, loyal and dedicated. He was faithful, honest, and a gentle giant. He held his head high and was confident. A super fun guy to be around. You never had to wonder how he felt about you even if he didn’t tell you everyday because his actions did.

All the while, battling ALS, it was very important for him to love God first and foremost. He had a love for God’s truth and prayed for himself and all his family and friends daily - He is the one “whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.” Psalm 1 verse 2. Tommy really understood forgiveness and redemption and practiced it.

Being paralyzed with ALS, he stood on God’s word and would listen to gospel music all night long, every day. So may lyrics were encouraging to him. He fought a good fight!
