I am so very sorry to learn of your loss!I know he will be missed greatly by all of you! To have lived 95 years in such a blessing and how proud he must have been to have been able to meet his great grandchildren. I hope you are lucky enough to remember vividly times you spent together and that those heart felt memories will carry you through on days when you miss your grandfather and great grandfather. Kathy, my condolesences to you and your mother. I know being the daughter that you are she will be needing you more and you will be there as much as you can. Big prayers for all of you! James E. Thomas, 95 of Columbus passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2017. Preceded in death by son Pat, granddaughter Hannah Thomas and siblings Herb, Tubby, Ray, Whitie, Chuck, Stu, Dave, and Madeleine. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Loretta; children Kathy Haines, Jeff (Joyce), GiGi (Jane) and Peggy (Jeff) Metzger; daughter-in-law Teresa; Grandchildren Elissa (Chris) Spruill, Alex(Megan)Thomas, Emily(Kyle)Bauer, Matthew(Summer)Thomas, Marlee(Sam)Stephens, Madeline Thomas and Stephen Metzger. Great-grandchildren: Ethan and Skylar Spruill, Michael Thomas, Thomas and Lucas Bauer, and George Stephens. Jim was a German Village native and a 1939 graduate of St. Mary's High School. He Retired after 38 years from State Auto Insurance. He was an avid golfer, bowler, OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. Jim was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and was a long time lector and choir member. Friends may call 4 to 6:30 PM Monday at St. Elizabeth Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd. and from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday.
