James Patrick Foley of Westerville passed away peacefully on August 31, 2017 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by parents Bernice Wake and Charles Foley. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Anita Foley, daughter Kathleen (William) McKahan of Westerville, son James (Sarah) Foley of Chagrin Falls, granddaughters Erin and Lauren LaCasse and Elizabeth Foley, grandsons Andrew and Kyle Foley, step granddaughters Katelyn and Allie McKahan, sisters Patricia Mills and Mary (Jim) Hunt, brother Charles (Myrna) Foley, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jim retired as a Commander of the Columbus Police Department after more than 30 years of service and was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9. He was a member of Saint Paul Parrish serving on the bereavement team for many years. He was a passionate horseman who bred and trained harness horses and developed many close relationships at the track. Jim graduated from Linden McKinley High School and enjoyed spending time with the life-long friends that he established in his youth. He was a devoted family man and friend that put the needs of others in front of his own. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 313 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio on Friday, September 8th at 10:00 AM with the committal service following the mass at the Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High St., Lewis Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Westerville Area Resource Ministry.
