Ethel "Ilene" Georges Obituary - Hill Funeral Home

Arrangements

Dick and I send our condolences to your family. I have so many wonderful memories of my time with your Dad in the College of Business Dean's Office. I remember that in the early years I used to type his annual Christmas letter as he recounted what was going on with all of you. Seemed like it went on and on and on :-) Your Mom and Dad were wonderful people and I know you have treasured memories.

Barbara and Dick Webster

Ethel "Ilene" Georges 1919-2017

Ethel "Ilene" Georges

11/30/1919 - 04/05/2017

Ethel "Ilene" Georges, 97 years young, of Westerville, was born November 30, 1919 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Otto Jacob and Lola L. Janzen, and passed peacefully April 5th surrounded by loving family. She married the love of her life, the late Colonel Robert E. Georges, and they were married for 64 years. She kept very busy, raising 8 mischievous children, and moving all over the world supporting her husband, who served 25 years in the US Air Force, and then 22 years at The Ohio State University school of Business. Upon retirement, they traveled the world together and enjoyed sharing all these cherished memories, especially visits to their out-of-town children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was always their passion. She very much enjoyed the outdoors, especially family cookouts and Sunday brunches. Her interests included birds, especially cardinals, and beautiful flowers. She was an exceptional cook and had a recipe file like no other. She enjoyed sewing and ceramics, and had the most organized calendars of past events and birthdays of anyone we knew. Japan was her favorite place that she had lived, and spoke of it often. She loved Oliver, her beloved dog, and enjoyed his visits until her passing. Preceeded in death by husband Robert E. Georges, brothers Donald Wesley, and Robert Gene. Survived by sister-in-Law Dorothy "Genevieve" Despain of Texas, eight children: sons Robert, Jr. “Tooey” (Dianne) Georges, Ted (Kathleen) Georges, Greg Georges, Rick (Barb) Georges, Steve (Barbara) Georges, daughters Janet (Mike) Nacerino, Judy (Jerry) Light, Deb (Doug) Nelson, fifteen grandkids: Cindy (Chris) Canepa, Robyn (Justin) Vandergrift Todd Monroe, Tina (Bill) Birchak, Jason (Katherine) Light, Sunni (John) Kitson, Jaci Light, Jordan (Lauren) Light, Janel (John) Mitchell, Ryan (Stacie) Nelson, Ted (Clarissa) Georges, Jr., Ashley Georges, Abby Georges, Taylor Georges, Kirsten Georges, and seventeen great grandkids, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ilene's wishes were to have a small family service. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Robert E. Georges Scholarship Fund at Ohio State University.
