In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Hospice Program or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in Henry’s memory.

Henry Gosztyla, age 71, of Westerville, Ohio died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Ann’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. He was born July 20, 1945 in a displaced persons camp in Germany. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Gosztyla, and mother, Janina (Bugaj) Gosztyla, of East Chicago, Indiana. Henry is survived by his wife Alice (Stanonik) Gosztyla, son Michael (Nancy) Gosztyla of Grove City, Ohio, son Aaron (Michelle) Gosztyla of McKowneville, New York ; granddaughters, Maya and Lydia Gosztyla of Grove City, Ohio; and many cousins, brothers-in-law, friends and colleagues. Henry and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Ansbach, Germany, where they lived as refugees of WWII for six years. He worked in a steel mill in East Chicago, Illinois in the summers to finance his college education at Purdue University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree. Henry also graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in architecture. He obtained his state license, was a member of the AIA; and was employed locally by several architecture firms, including NBBJ, Moody-Noland, BHDP, and Patrick and Associates. He was a veteran, serving in the Army as a Lieutenant in Viet Nam. Henry was an avid fisherman; a graduate of the OSU Master Gardener Program; a loyal Purdue, OSU, and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan; an active member of the Westerville Progressive Alliance; a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend; and a person who enjoyed life to it’s fullest.
