Patricia Kirk Caston, of Columbus Ohio, age 92, passed away Wednesday 6/23/2016 at Westminster Thurber Nursing Facility. Born 11/26/1923 at Ohio Valley General in Wheeling, WV. Married to Charles Caston in 1956 at Maple Grove Methodist Church. She received a BS in Education 1945, and MA in Education in 1963 from The Ohio State University. She had a long and successful career in education as a teacher and administrator with Columbus City Schools. She was instrumental in bringing the “Informal Method” into practice as the first Principal of Indianola Informal Elementary school in Columbus. She loved to laugh loudly, and often. And she had a unique gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. She exercised her insatiable curiosity for the world around her through reading, traveling and as a long-active member of the Sorosis Professional Women’s club. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Caston, parents Robert J. and Francis (Cowen) Kirk, brother Richard (Eva) Kirk, Niece Judith Kirk Stevens, brother Dr. Rodney (Betty) Kirk, and her Nephew Thomas B. (Svetlana) Kirk. She is survived by her niece Kathleen Kirk, Dr. Angela Kirk, her grand nieces and nephews; Suzanne (Jeff) Kirk, Christine (Steve) Kirk, Deborah Kirk, Tom (Emily) Kirk, Tonya (Keith) Johnstun, Scott (Ellen) Dvorak, Jennifer Dvorak and all her great-great nieces and nephews, as well as the Rice families. Service to be held at Maple Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 2nd, 1pm.
