Obituary for Ed "Sonny" Thomas

Sonny was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 8, 1938 and passed away at Riverside Hospital on May 25, 2015. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Mifflin High School. He attended Otterbein University. He spent many years in the insurance business and more recently retired from driving a school bus for the Westerville School District. Survived by his wife, Judy whom he married on November 14, 2013 He is predeceased by his first wife, Diane, sister Helen and brother “Jiggs”. Surviving are his children, Daniel (Lisa), Douglas and Debra (Terrance) of Columbus, OH and David (Nancy) of South Carolina. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and sisters Amy (Charlie) of Orient, OH and Mary of Grove City, OH; brother-in-law Tim of North Carolina; sister-in-law Nora (Bob) of Florida. He also leaves his furry friends, Daisy and Poppy. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, University Lodge #631 and a Shriner where he was Chaplain for the Registration Unit. We will celebrate his life at a memorial service on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Church of the Master United Methodist Church, 24 N. Grove Street, Westerville, OH 43081 at 11:00am, where he was a member for more than 30 years. The family will meet with friends starting at 10:00am at the church. Services to begin at 11:00am. Dr. Rev. Joel Baer officiating. Donations can be made to Church of the Master UMC in his name or to a charity of your choice.
