Obituary for William (Bill) Stickney

William (Bill) Stickney 1934-2022

William (Bill) Stickney

08/24/1934 - 02/22/2022

William Lynn Stickney (Bill) went home to the Lord and to reunite with his recently departed wife Arminta on Tuesday February 22. Bill, 87, was born to Robert Francis and Princess Eugenia Stickney on August 24, 1934. He graduated from South High School in 1952 and was a proud alum of The Ohio State University where he earned a BS in Business Administration in 1957. Bill served 6 years with the Ohio Army National Guard in the 166th Regimental Combat Team and worked for Swift & Company as Plant Supervisor from 1957 to 1964. In his 35+ year tenure as a steward to the printing industry in Ohio, he served as President of the Printing Industry of Central Ohio, and the consolidated Printing Industries Association, Inc. serving Northern Kentucky and Ohio. During that time, he earned the reputation of being a trusted and valued source of industry information and a mentor for those who worked with him. Bill was elected president of both the Graphic Arts Association Executives and the Ohio Society of Association Executives. He was also a member of the Government Affairs Committee, the Association Relations Council, the Board of Directors of the Printing Industries of America, and the Blue Shield Board of Directors. Bill was an avid fly-fisherman and a proud member of Slaty Hollow Trout Club where he spent many mornings and afternoons fishing with friends and family. He was a member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, and he treasured the years of box seats in the Shoe. Bill loved spending time at his Lake Norris house in Tennessee where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and entertaining his family and friends. Throughout his life he took great pleasure in visiting historic landmarks, bow hunting, tending to his yard and garden, and creating and tinkering in his garage. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and participated in Bible Study Fellowship International. William is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Anne, and his beloved wife Arminta. His honesty, integrity, diplomacy and orneriness will be sorely missed but survive in his loving children, Dean (Sandy) Stickney, Diana (Pete) Garst and Cheryl (Steve) Dunn; grandchildren, Shannon Stickney (Bruce), Heath Stickney, Corie (Eric) Smetana, Cassandra Dunn, Brendan (Julie) Garst, Kristin Garst and Seth (Kindra) Dunn; and great grandchildren, Jack and Whitney Burt and Maelyn and Anessa Smetana.
