Obituary for Christopher Thesing

Christopher Thesing 1960-2022

Christopher Thesing

03/24/1960 - 02/15/2022

Christopher John Thesing, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the age of 61 years old. Chris was born on March 24, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio to Janet (Bishop) Thesing and John “Buck” Thesing. From a young age, he loved sports: he played youth football and soccer, followed by high school football, lacrosse, and wrestling, and he was a team captain for every team he ever played for. Chris was a 1978 graduate of Oakland Mills High School in Columbia, Maryland, where he was a scholar athlete, Homecoming King, and National Athlete recognized by Who’s Who. A second generation Buckeye, he graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in Business Administration. Chris married Elizabeth “Libby” Bodimer on June 15, 1986. They enjoyed 35 years together during which they raised four children who were the pride and joy of Chris’ life. Chris claimed to be “the richest man in the world” after prioritizing being a stay-at-home Dad over other career goals. He returned to the workforce as a manager at The Japanese Steakhouse in downtown Columbus, where his family riches grew to include colleagues and customers. He enjoyed contributing to the Westerville community as a volunteer coach for the Vikings of the Junior Football League of Westerville from 1995 to 2007. He also volunteered as a coach for soccer, wrestling, and baseball for his childrens’ teams throughout the years. In addition to playing and coaching competitive sports, Chris loved fishing, the Columbus Blue Jackets, computer games, and most of all, gathering with friends and family. Chris is preceded in death by his mother, Janet Thesing. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, John (Amy), Kimberly (Vince), Adam, and Michael; two granddaughters, Alexandra "Lexie" and Samantha "Sammy"; his father, John (Gay); and three brothers, Eric (Karey), Mark (Gina), and Scott (Diana). In keeping with Chris’ nature, funeral services will be for immediate family only. Family will welcome those wishing to celebrate Chris’ life to a memorial this summer.
