Obituary for Michael Stevenson

Michael Stevenson 1967-2022

Michael Stevenson

04/23/1967 - 02/10/2022

Michael W. Stevenson, 54, of Westerville, Ohio passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Mike was the loving husband of Amy Stevenson for 30 years. They met as students at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and proudly spoke of their “Miami Merger.” Mike and Amy previously resided in Gahana, OH, Overland Park, KS, and Boca Raton, FL before returning to the Columbus area in Westerville, OH.

Mike is also survived by his sons, Joshua Stevenson of Columbus, Ohio and Zachary Stevenson of Westerville, Ohio. He was actively involved in his boys’ lives and considered them his pride and joy. Always a willing heart to volunteer, Mike served in roles as soccer coach and scout leader for over ten years. Mike was an incredible mentor to his sons as well as countless young men along their path to adulthood.

Born on April 23, 1967 to Wilbur and Sue Stevenson at Mt Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Mike’s family moved several times (Franklin Township, Akron and Reynoldsburg), until eventually settling in Perrysburg, Ohio, in 1976 where he graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1985. He played soccer in school where his dad was the soccer coach. Not widely known, but he was also into musicals and knew how to tap dance (yes with those big feet!)

In addition to his wife, sons and parents, Mike is also survived by his brothers Bradley Stevenson (Katie Fitzgerald) of Northbrook, Illinois and Robert Stevenson (Andrea Steinmetz) of Dublin, Ohio, father and mother-in-law John and Rebecca Lowry of Pickerington, Ohio, sister-in-law Abby Walker (Mike Walker) of Pickerington, Ohio. Mike also had multiple nephews and nieces at the time of his passing - Lance Stevenson, Luke Stevenson, Georgia Stevenson, Lazo Stevenson, Gloria Stevenson, Benjamin Walker and Madeline Walker. In addition, Mike had two loving dogs, Angus and Millie.

Mike was employed for the past ten years at Subaru of America where he was a Zone Network Development Manager. Prior to Subaru, he worked for other companies in the automotive industry including Volkswagen of America, Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars and Ford Motor Company. Mike was a friend of and respected by many people in the industry and was a mentor and role model to many of his colleagues.

Not only was Mike active in volunteerism he had several hobbies and passions including: cooking, camping, dog-lover and avid Buckeye fan. Never at a loss for words, he was always loaded with a joke or two to keep the room on its toes.

The family will receive visitors at Hill Funeral Home in Westerville, Ohio on Thursday, February 17th from 4 PM to 6 PM. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 18th at Hill Funeral Home at 10:30 AM. Services will be live-streamed on the HILL FUNERAL YOUTUBE.
