Judith Marshall passed away on June 28, 2021 in Westerville Ohio. She was born July 1, 1940 in Alton Illinois and have lived in the Alton- Godfrey area until the present time. Her early school experience included going to Milton School, East Junior High School, and Alton High School. During high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Dramatic club, Latin Club. During her junior year she was selected to attend Girl’s State in Jacksonville Il. She thoroughly enjoyed this experience and learned a great deal about government operation from it. She also worked as a counselor’s assistant. She was graduated from high school in 1958 and received a gold alpha award for academic scholarship and a state teacher’s scholarship.

Upon graduation she enrolled at SIU Alton Center where she attended school for one year. she completed her education at Western Illinois University in Macomb Illinois where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1962. While at Western, she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honorary society and A.C.E., Association for Childhood Education. She served as State Student President of A.C.E. during her junior year.

Upon graduation from Western, she was married to David Marshall. They are the parents of two children – a boy, Michael and a girl, Jaris.

She has taught in the Alton School District since 1962. She taught first grade at Milton School for one semester and Kindergarten at Fosterburg School and Mark Twain School for another semester. From 1964 to 1966, she taught first grade at Godfrey Grade School. .j For two years she taught third grade at Clifton-Hill School and then taught fourth grade at Gibson Brown in Godfrey.

She traveled a great deal in the United States and has visited almost all of the contiguous states. She enjoyed traveling very much.

She enjoyed working with children and on several occasions worked with the youth in church groups.

A private family service was held followed by interment at Scenic Cemetery, Grafton, IL.

In lieu of flowers, friends may donate in her memory to The American Alzheimer’s Assoc.
